ANTONETTE’S STORY

Antonette has been involved with Oriem from the beginning, in fact, some of you may recognise her from our Milperra store’s Colourcrete days.

In July 2023, Antonette was suddenly hospitalised with a severe headache and vomiting that culminated in high-risk surgery to remove a large and complicated brain tumour.

Despite the odds, she survived the surgery - but suffered a serious stroke in the process. Her journey to recovery has not been easy, and the whole Oriem team have been truly inspired by her attitude and spirit. Watch this video to hear her full story.

The Genyus Foundation has been, and continues to be, instrumental in Antonette’s journey to recovery.

ABOUT GENYUS

The Genyus Foundation aims to eliminate isolation for stroke and brain injury survivors. They believe it is essential to build a safe and supportive space that allows everyone touched by trauma to connect with someone who understands.

After suffering a stroke at only age 24, founder Caleb Rixon discovered a real lack of support for young stroke survivors like himself. This inspired him to create a resource for others in the same boat to have the support he wishes he had access to at the start of his own journey.

We are happy to support an Australian charity that has given so much to our very own Oriem family!
